Dr. Bastian Westphal graduated as a process engineer in 2010 at the Technical University Braunschweig majoring in process development for lithium-ion battery production. In 2017 he received his PhD after working as a research associate at the Battery LabFactory Braunschweig. Simultaneously he co-founded a company to develop an economical recycling process for lithium-ion batteries. In 2017 he joined Volkswagen as process developer for the coating and drying process. Since 2021 he is responsible for the process development in the area of electrode production and recycling.
